
About Me
Hi, I’m Deepti Singhal, the creator and heart behind VegBuffet. After transitioning from my role as an Assistant Professor to becoming a full-time mom, I discovered my true passion in the kitchen.
VegBuffet is a reflection of that journey —I’ve been cooking vegetarian food for over 18 years, from traditional Indian meals to modern everyday recipes. I have a collection of 200+ homemade, vegetarian (egg-free) recipes that are curated by me and tested by my family before being shared here. My goal is to make cooking simple, enjoyable, and accessible, with each recipe made from scratch using fresh, wholesome ingredients.
Why I Started VegBuffet
Leaving my job as an Assistant Professor was a tough call, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. I wanted to spend more time with my family, and what better way to do that than through cooking? Over time, I realized that food is the best way to bring people together, and that's why I decided to start VegBuffet.
I began my culinary journey after marriage, learning kitchen tricks and techniques step by step. I’ve learned from the best — my mother-in-law, an expert in the kitchen, whose skills had shaped my cooking. If I can do it, I believe anyone can — no fancy skills required!
My Family, My Inspiration
Family is at the heart of everything I do. My husband and daughter are my main recipe tasters, and their honest feedback keeps me going. They patiently adjust their meal times for my ongoing recipe shoots, which I’m incredibly grateful for.
When I’m Not in the Kitchen
When I’m not in the kitchen, I love to take long walks — they’re a perfect way to clear my mind and enjoy a little peace away from the hustle. These walks often turn into deep conversations with my husband about how much the world has changed over the years. We talk about everything from technology to life lessons and how different things are from when we were growing up. It’s these thoughtful discussions that help me stay grounded and appreciate how far we’ve come.
At home, I also love to spend time chatting with my daughter. She enjoys listening to stories from my childhood, and we share a lot of laughs together. These simple moments are my favorite part of the day.
I’m a proud Netflix binge-watcher! Watching thrillers and crime-solving series is my ultimate stress buster. Though I’m not the bravest person, something is thrilling about solving a good mystery on-screen.
