Ingredients
  

  • 1 inch raw turmeric 1 teaspoon turmeric powder or 2 teaspoon raw turmeric root when freshly grated
  • 2.25 cups milk
  • 1.5 teaspoon sugar adjust as per taste
  • 5-7 whole black pepper corns 5 whole pepper corns crushed or 1 teaspoon black pepper powder

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, heat the milk over slow heat. Add sugar and whole black peppercorns.
  • Freshly grate the raw turmeric (2 tsp) and add it to the milk. Stir well and let it simmer for about 8-10 minutes, ensuring it doesn't boil over.
  • Strain the Turmeric Milk to remove any remaining turmeric bits. Pour the warm, golden milk into your favorite mug.

Notes

Expert Tips:
  • Make sure to cook in a heavy bottomed sauce pan to avoid burning of the milk. Also to cook on slow flame throughout.
  • Make sure to consume the turmeric milk as fresh as possible. If you have leftovers, try to consume within a day.
  • Start with low quantity of turmeric as it may taste bitter if you are not used to the taste. 1 teaspoon is fine to begin with if you are using raw turmeric root.
  • There will be a color discharge from raw turmeric. Use a kitchen cloth for managing it.
