Phool Makhana roasted in ghee in 2 flavors- salted and sugary- Perfect Snack for Fasting days in navratri.

Phool Makhana (Fox nuts or lotus seeds) Salt Sugar Desi Ghee Black pepper

COOK TIME: 10 MIN

INGREDIENTS

Step 1

In a heavy wok, (I have used iron wok or kadai), add desi ghee and let it heat for a minute.

Add makhana and roast on slow flame for 2-3 min till they  look browned and crispy.

In a large bowl, add roasted makhana and top with salt and black pepper. Toss it well.

Step 4

In the same wok, add more ghee, roast another batch of makhana. This time when they are browned, add sugar.

Step 5

Sugar will start dissolving and add a caramelized layer to the makhnas. Switch off when sugar melts.

Serve both the salted and sugary crispy roasted makhana for a healthy snack or for a fasting day in Navratri.
