Roasted Phool Makhana Kheer is a simple yet delicious Indian dessert for fasting in Navratri.

Phool Makhana (Fox nuts or lotus seeds) Sugar Desi Ghee Milk Cardamom Powder

INGREDIENTS

Step 1

In a heavy pan, roast makhanas in desi ghee on a slow flame.  It takes about 2-3 min for one cup makhana to become crisp and absorb Ghee.

On a slow flame, carefully add warm/ freshly boiled milk. Let it cook on slow flame for 5 min. keep stirring. Makhana would become soft.

Once they become soft ass sugar and cardamom powder. Let it cook for another few min.

Step 4

Gradually milk will start becoming creamy. You may blend the roasted makhanas or crush them now with spatula.

The roasted makhana kheer is ready. Serve it fresh.
