If you are a big fan of smoothies, you would surely love this freshly made glass of Low Calorie Pumpkin Spice Smoothie. By now, you must be knowing I am Pumpkin lover and I have created many recipes using it. They all are Healthy and Vegetarian Pumpkin recipes.

Why Would You Love This Recipe?

    • Gluten Free
    • Easily convertible to Vegan
    • Rich in Vitamin A
    • Refreshing and soothing healthy drink
    • Kid's Friendly
    • Weight Loss Friendly
    • Quick and Super Easy Recipe
    • The Best Pumpkin Spice Smoothie Ever!

    Ingredients

    • Pumpkin Puree- The star ingredient of this recipe is Pumpkin Puree. You may use orange skin pumpkin as it tastes best in pumpkin desserts. I use green skin pumpkin for savory dishes. One may buy canned pumpkin puree for quick recipe or boil the pumpkin a night before.
    • Banana- Pumpkin goes well with the flavor of banana. If you are on low carb diet, you may use peaches and berries.
    • Peanut Butter- This low carb high protein butter is amazingly rich in flavor and adds the perfect depth to this pumpkin smoothie. I may be biased as I love peanut butter a lot. You may skip it or replace with cream. But then it would be high in calories. I have used Pintola brand that is local and popular here in India. You may use your local brand.
    • Pumpkin Spice- Without the touch of pumpkin spice, pumpkin desserts are boring. I have made my own pumpkin spice at home using cardamom, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger powder. If you can't get hold of pumpkin spice, you may simply add ground cinnamon and cardamom.
    • Maple Syrup- A healthy substitute of refined sugar that I commonly use in my recipes. You may use honey as well.
    • Milk- I have used Single Toned Milk from Mother Dairy. For vegan options, you may use coconut, almond or soy milk.

    Variations

    • Vegan Pumpkin Smoothie: You may replace the dairy milk with any vegan milk of your choice.
    • Pumpkin Oatmeal Smoothie: Oats Smoothie is a quick healthy snack of its own. Adding oatmeal to cookies or smoothies is a great choice.
    • Low Carb or Keto Pumpkin Smoothie: Skip banana and choose low carb fruits like peaches or berries to make this pumpkin smoothie low in carbs.
    • Pumpkin Chocolate Smoothie: Try another flavor of chocolate or vanilla. I don't prefer mixing too many flavors and with pumpkin, I simply love banana as it adds the creamy texture to the smoothie and doesn't overpower the overall flavor of the smoothie.
    • Try another Protein: You may make it High Protein Smoothie by adding protein vanilla powder. I prefer Peanut Butter, though. You may also try curd/ yogurt, almond butter or Pumpkin Seeds.

    Expert Tips

    • For making Pumpkin Puree, I prefer using orange skin pumpkin and making it is super easy. Boil large chunks of pumpkin in a pressure cooker for one whistle. Use fork or blender to mash it.
    • Fresh Pumpkin puree works best. That said, you may use canned pumpkin.
    • Add milk gradually instead of adding at one go. This helps make a smooth textured smoothie and not chunky.

    Stories From Kitchen

I am on a journey where I am trying to introduce my family with different tastes and must say its an adventure!! Specially when you are not sure about the outcome and you have no back-up!!

Last week, I tried Beetroot Tacos...Till the last moment, I had absolutely no idea, how it will turn out to be and I had no other lunch substitute. I had already delayed the lunch because of the new recipe and had no escape from it.

Learning from experience does matter. While I was observing my mother-in-law cook, she gave me great tips and they got saved in my hard-drive. I started cooking quite late as I was just observing her cook...Seriously .. That paid off and I cook with such a confidence that even I am surprised.
